I don’t paint what I see with my eyes. I paint what I see in my mind. This guarantees both me and the viewer that there is only one original painting like it on this planet.
I am a professional painter and sculptor specializing in unique Contemporary Western and South Western fine art. I have been creating original paintings and one-of-a-kind sculptures for art collectors , homes, offices and businesses for over 50 years.
At the age of eight, the first—and only—thing my father ever showed me how to draw was the profile of a cowboy’s face on a piece of paper. When he drew it, I freaked out and asked him to do it again. He did, and I looked on in amazement. Watching my father make that cowboy come alive by putting pencil to paper changed my life forever. Since that day, art and the creative process of bringing imagination to life have consumed my world. What you see in my work today is, without a doubt, the result of that amazing moment in time with my father. I have been applying paint to canvas for more than 50 years. It is the challenge of the entire creative process that interests me most. Bringing ideas from the mind into reality—and experiencing the journey from beginning to end—is a beautiful process. It doesn’t matter to me what the subject is, as long as it allows me to let my mind run free, imagine, and explore the possibilities of creating something new for myself and the viewer.
Imagination Running Wild
I never know what the image will be until it enters my mind and starts to dance. That is why I have so many different collections. Images come and go, but it’s the ones that stay and dance that I love the most. The ones that stay the longest are always talking to me. The only way to get them out of my mind is to make them a reality. I like paintings that are colorful, fun, big, bold, and beautiful. I also like adding hard-to-find, very subtle symbols hidden throughout much of my work. Hearts. My challenge is to paint or sculpt something new and different. As an artist, I try to introduce people’s eyes to images they have never seen before. Creating images straight from my imagination means my clients know they cannot find them anywhere else. My clients and collectors love the fact that the contemporary, fun images I paint and sculpt are unique, creative, distinctively original conversation pieces—and truly one-of-a-kind works of art.
